Go away, Nick. We don’t like you.
At the top of the episode, Tanner rocks and calls Nick out for reveling in his “16th minute of fame.” Nick hopes that the guys respect that he is here. No, they don’t.
JJ is the first to take Kaitlyn away at the long-awaited cocktail party thing. Screw him for being adorable and carrying her across the bases. Still, all the guys can talk about is Nick. How is that not a red flag for Kaitlyn? I guess good for her for seeing the good in people. At the rose ceremony, Kaitlyn sent home the rest of the irrelevant guys who you see on screen and think, “Wait…who are they?” Unfortunately, Nick is not one of those guys. (Ryan, Jonathan, and Corey went home) The others are off to San Antonio, Texas.
Ben H. gets a one-on-one date this week. He and Kaitlyn drive away in and old Ford pickup truck. Joshua is really upset because it makes him miss his truck. Ben H. and Kaitlyn pull up at the oldest dance hall in Texas for some two-step lessons and a most likely rigged dance competition. Ben H. is such a sweetheart. Knowing what I know about Kaitlyn now I want her to send him home. I think he deserves better. I’m sorry, girl. I know we’re supposed to stick together but I can’t be on your side right now. He gets a rose though (because he shared his sob story), and I’m not complaining about getting to see him for another week.
Justin, Jared, Ian, Cupcake, Tanner, Joe, JJ, Ben Z., Joshua, and Nick are going on the group date this week. The guys will be writing mariachi songs for Kaitlyn and being a little bit racist. As much as I love Joshua, he needs to concentrate less on Nick and more on Kaitlyn if he wants to stay. He and the rest of the guys are really nervous about their songs, but they shouldn’t be. They are all pretty terrible, but Kaitlyn doesn’t seem to be very good judge of talent. Nick is no exception, but he owned the competition. Later in the date, Joshua asks Kaitlyn to cut his hair because she’s a barber? It looks horrible. I think it’s because she is a dance instructor. Nick doesn’t understand Joshua’s motives because he sees it as a waste of time. And why would you waste time getting to know each other when you could just make out? Regardless, Joshua’s behavior tonight made me nervous. After pulling Kaitlyn aside and telling her that everyone is lying to her face, she confronts the guys awkwardly. She’s not kidding around though. She’s looking for a husband and she wants to take things seriously. That is why she went on The Bachelorette, okay? As a slap in the face to every guy in the room (and especially for Joshua), Nick got the group date rose.
The second one-on-one goes to Shawn. Kaitlyn says in a testimonial that she felt a connection with Shawn as soon as he stepped out of the limo. However, if you remember, when Shawn stepped out of the limo he went immediately to Britt and lifted her up and told her that he was there for her. But yeah, immediate connection, Kaitlyn. She and Shawn kayaked and then went to dinner, where he told her his personal sob story. It’s definitely super sad, but I’m over this show using tragedy as a way to keep contestants around. Obviously, Shawn gets the date rose.
Kaitlyn toasts to honesty at the cocktail party. Ian gets too into it and tells us that Kaitlyn isn’t as hot as his ex-girlfriend. I’m not quite sure what made Ian crack tonight, but I had him going pretty far in this competition journey. Is he drunk or are the producers paying him? We saw Ian’s rant in the season teaser, but I didn’t expect it to be this early. Ian is the world’s most eligible bachelor and he has a lot of sex and he thinks Kaitlyn is uninteresting and this isn’t a classy enough environment for him. A little harsh, dude. To some extent, I think we are all thinking what Ian said. TO BE CONTINUED…
I want to give up. I really do. I can’t though because next week homegirl sleeps with someone. This season is the wooooorst.
