Let’s pick up right where we left off, shall we?
Ben pulled Olivia aside at the beginning of the rose ceremony to confront her about some rumors he had heard about her. Olivia immediately defended herself, saying that she is just shy and likes to keep to herself. She starting crying and said that she isn’t the type of girl who will paint nails and do hair with other girls- she would rather sit alone in her room and read a book. Say what you want about creative editing. It is very possible that this whole time the producers played Olivia to look like a villain, but you just can’t fake the things she said. She acted a bit delusional, but Ben didn’t take her rose away and she stayed for the next week. Jennifer did not get a rose, and did not join the Ben and the rest of the girls in the Bahamas.
The first one-on-one went to Caila. Leah was really upset about this because 1. Caila has already had a one-on-one, and 2. There is only one this week. The other two dates are a group date and the unappealing two-on-one date. In Caila’s defense, she went on her one-on-one with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube too. While Caila enjoyed fishing, sunbathing, and kissing with Ben, Leah cried and contemplated going home. The one-on-one ended with a very confusing conversation between Caila and Ben. She kind of make it sound like she wasn’t interested, or maybe didn’t like him as much as he liked her. I think once she realized what she said, she kind of changed it to be what Ben wanted to hear instead. It worked though- she got a rose.
The group date was for Lauren B., Becca, Amanda, JoJo, Lauren H., and Leah. Poor Leah. Ben and the girls took a sailboat to an island where wild pigs live and I need to move there immediately. The pigs swam in the water like cute little dogs and the girls fed them (chicken) hotdogs and tried not to get attacked. Things got tense because Ben was spending a lot of time with Lauren B. The tension did not go unnoticed. He talked to JoJo and Leah both about how group dates are awkward and how this whole process is hard. It was awkward. I’m not sure Ben was completely hearing what the girls were saying, but at the same time I think the girls complaining about not getting enough time with Ben need to be a little bit more aggressive…or maybe not.
When Leah pulled Ben aside she told him that she didn’t think he saw everything that was going on in the house. She started to describe a house bully. This all sounds familiar, yes? However, it wasn’t Olivia she was talking about. Instead, Leah threw Lauren B. under the bus for, as much as I can see, no reason whatsoever. Again, perhaps Lauren B. was mean in the house and we just never saw any of it because of how the show was edited. Regardless, Ben was shocked and so was Lauren B. when he told her what someone had said. She spent the rest of the evening crying, and the rest of the girls consoled her. They were just as confused as she was. Amanda got the group date rose.
After the date, Leah went over to Ben’s apartment to talk to him some more. Her plan did not work as she expected, because Ben didn’t really appreciate the fact that they were spending this one-on-one time together to talk about someone else. Leah was sent home that night.
The next day, Emily and Olivia met Ben for an incredibly windy boat ride. After an awkward champagne picnic on their private beach, Ben took Olivia aside to talk to her first. She continued to defend her actions with the girls by actually saying the words, “deep, intellectual things are just my jam.” I would love to know what Ben was thinking after hearing that. When it was Emily’s turn to talk, whatever she was saying was being upstaged by the wind, which was blowing her hair completely into her face. Ben found this much more appealing than Olivia’s conversation, and adorably fixed her hair for her. He was very proud of himself and it was very cute. When it was time to give the coveted two-on-one rose away, Ben pulled Olivia away first. She was beaming. It was almost kind of sad. She quickly became aware that she was not going to receive the rose, but would instead be left on this island by herself and as Ben and Emily took a yacht back to the mainland.
After a pretty dramatic week, even in Bachelor Nation, Ben decided to cancel the cocktail party and go straight to the rose ceremony. Becca noted that it was scary that he knew that a quick conversation wasn’t going to change his mind. But he knew, and roses this week went to Caila, Amanda, Emily, Becca, JoJo, and Lauren B. Welcome back to the mitten state, Lauren H.
So what do YOU think? Was Lauren B. really a bully? Are pigs cute or scary? Who punched Leah in the face? Wait! WHO PUNCHED LEAH IN THE FACE?
Again, if only we could control the editing of this show. It looks like it was a good enough moment for the season teaser, but not for the show itself. Oh well, the rest of the season looks jam packed with drama, and I for one cannot wait. But I will. NO SPOILERS!
Who’s Gonna Last? (My predictions, not spoilers)
Side note: The title of this week’s entry comes from The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. If you don’t get the reference, do yourself a favor and watch the show. I constantly say this, and it makes me laugh every time.
