It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve last seen JoJo and friends, but we left off on Chad being a terrifying person and trying to get into the guys’ house in Pennsylvania. Not a whole lot happened with this situation- at least, not as much as the previews hinted at. Basically, Chad said in a very calm way how he was feeling. As people offered their rebuttal, Chad got a bit more angry and eventually resorted to insults. Once he started with that, the guys stopped playing along and started to walk away. Before he could let Chad go, Evan once again brought up the fact that he owed him a new shirt.
The best part of seeing To Be Continued at the end of an episode is getting a rose ceremony at the beginning of the next one. After a cocktail party where JoJo played in giant hamster balls with Chase, made wishes on coins in a fountain with Robby, got a poem read to her by James F., and was pushed against a wall to make out with Jordan, it was time for a rose ceremony. Derek, Robby, Chase, Wells, Grant, Vinny, James Taylor, and Evan got roses. When JoJo said Evan’s name she truly looked like she was going to vomit.
Leaving Pennsylvania and all of its drama behind, the gang heads to Uruguay. Jordan, who the rest of the guys think is not here for the right reasons, had the first one-on-one date this week. He and JoJo relaxed on a yacht, saw some seals, and went scuba diving. At dinner, JoJo confronted him about an ex of his that she ran into who warned her that he was a cheater. Jordan explained that he never cheated, but blamed the who misunderstanding on how much time he dedicated to playing football in the past. This answer satisfied JoJo, she gave Jordan a rose, and they enjoyed the rest of the night dancing around in the streets.
Back at the house, the guys discovered an article from the very credible and trusted In Touch magazine that basically said JoJo dumped her ex boyfriend for the opportunity to be The Bachelorette. I honestly wouldn’t doubt this, as it seems to be the story of so many people in Bachelor Nation, however, JoJo started filming almost immediately after Ben’s season ended. The runner-up usually isn’t the next Bachelor or Bachelorette, so she really didn’t have a whole lot of time in between to start a new relationship, especially after being dumped when expecting a marriage proposal. The guys were all concerned about this and they planned on bringing it up to JoJo, but she got to them first. A producer showed her the article and, after some tears and some explaining, went to go tell the guys her side of the story. I think this is great for her. No one on The Bachelor can have incredibly great and pure intentions, but going right to them and explaining to them what happened was really brave of her. Some of them looked like they were ready to throw her to the lions beforehand, so I can imagine she was pretty anxious. All of the drama and tears from the preview last week were for this moment. Yes, it was about a guy named Chad, just not the one we were all expecting. (If you’re looking for drama about THAT Chad, click here.)
This week’s group date was for Evan, Alex, Wells, James Taylor, Derek, Luke, Vinny, Grant, and Chase. The group went surfing on some sand dunes and it looked incredibly fun and only a little bit scary. Good guy Luke was the first to comfort JoJo and tell her that he doesn’t judge her or think any less or her because of that article. She looked incredibly relieved to receive this validation, which only continued throughout the rest of the date. Wells said his piece, then mentioned that he never wanted to talk about someone named Chad ever again. I’m with you, Wells! On this date is when a new villain (?) started to appear. Derek is nervous. He doesn’t like to see the other guys getting close to JoJo because it’s been a while since he’s had a one-on-one and he doesn’t want her to forget about him. So when he sees her with the other guys, he gets a little jealous. He tells JoJo all of this on the date, and his honesty and vulnerability earn him the group date rose. The other guys were really unhappy about this because they think Derek is putting on an act. I don’t think so at all. I don’t see how this behavior makes him a villain. They’re all mad at Jordan for being too confident, and mad at Derek for not being confident enough. Figure it out, dudes (mainly Alex).
After JoJo chased a dog around the beach, she met up with Robby for the second one-on-one date of the week. They spent the afternoon walking around town, shopping, and eating. When they got to a small cliff, JoJo said that there is no one else in the house that she would rather jump off of it with, considering Robby is a former competitive
Olympic college swimmer. After a swim, Robby and JoJo ate dinner together and things started to get more real between them. Robby told her about his friend who died suddenly, and how his death impacted the way he lives now. Because he doesn’t want to have any regrets, Robby told JoJo that he is in love with her. I’m thinking that him being the first to say this is going to be huge for him. Obviously, Robby got a rose.
The tension was high in the house because no one knows what (or who) to talk about since you-know-who left. Before the cocktail party, Derek called a Jordan, Alex, and Chase out for being cliquey and talking about him. This was probably a pretty bad idea on Derek’s part because now he has a bigger target on his back. The guys were really mad at him because it took them away from concentrating on what they were going to say to JoJo during the cocktail party. Luckily for them, Chris Harrison swung by to tell them that there would be no cocktail party and they would be headed straight for the rose ceremony. JoJo gave roses to Luke, Chase, Alex, James Taylor, and Wells.
Who’s Gonna Last? (My predictions, not spoilers.)
Grant (Should’ve gone with Alex!)
So, what do YOU think? Are you glad that Chad is gone? Do you think JoJo was telling the truth about the In Touch article? Would you trust Vinny to cut your hair? Is Derek overreacting? Let me know in the comments!
